The Air Motor
Typical air motor
A typical design of vacuum operated motor, which drives the roll transport mechanism. Notice the line of pneumatics at the rear, each with its moving wall connected via a link to the crankshaft. As the crankshaft rotates, the sliders at the front open and close air channels, admitting suction to each pneumatic in turn. The air motor, also referred to as the wind motor, is remarkably powerful and smooth running.
